We are excited to announce the details for the 2022 Nueces County Republican Party Conventions.
The Republican Party of Texas (RPT) Convention Process is for all Republican Voters! The RPT is a grassroots, bottom-up organization. We want max participation to show the strength of the grassroots. The Convention process is how you can make your voice heard to shape the direction of the RPT. This is a great opportunity for people to get active.
The Convention process will kick off on Saturday March 5th with our Precinct Conventions. We will hold all 128 Precinct Conventions at the Nueces County CourtHouse (Central Jury Room) starting at 9:30 am. This is where we elect delegates to our SD (Texas State Senatorial District) Conventions and approve Resolutions to move on to the SD Conventions.
Resolutions submissions at the Precinct Conventions is the first step in affecting law. They move on to the SD Conventions > State Convention > Party Platform, then the Republican legislators use the Party Platform to write bills which then can become law. Remember the School House Rock “I’m just a bill!”? Well, this is how it all starts!
The Tentative Schedule for the Precinct Conventions is as follows…
9:30 - 10:15 am - Registration/Refreshments
10:15 am - Opening Ceremonies
10:30 am - Instructions on Conducting Precinct Conventions
10:45 am – Precinct Conventions
On Saturday March 26th we will be having our SD Conventions. Since Nueces County is now split into 2 SDs we need to hold 2 conventions. We no longer can have 1 County Convention. To be a delegate to the SD Conventions you must have been elected at your Precinct Convention.
Both SD conventions (SD20 & SD27) will be held at the Atrium Hotel Corpus Christi Airport & Convention Center at 9:30 am. A detailed schedule will be posted as we get closer to that date.
