Coastal Bend Republican Coalition

Thursday Morning Update, October 19, 2023

From Jenny Beth Martin, Tea Party Patriots Co-Founder

I'm sorting out what is going on and what the strategy is. Below, I'll explain what I know. But, first, please keep calling your Congressman to say refuse to expand the powers of the Speaker Pro Tempore and to oppose putting Dems back in charge of the House through bipartisan "coalition" government. 202-224-3121. Here is what I know for sure: 1. We cannot set a precedent to expand the authority of the Speaker Pro Tempore. “Temporary” power in DC is never temporary. They will use this tactic again if it works now. So, it is vital you keep calling saying do not expand McHenry's authority or give Dems more power.

2. @GOPMajorityWhip  has said, "A Democrat coalition government is a nonstarter for Republicans," he said. "We need to elect a Republican speaker with Republican votes, and we're going to do that today with Jim Jordan." (

@bobsigel X at 11:24)

 3. @RepJimBanks  said "more than half of Republicans" will oppose it, meaning it will need majority Democratic support. (

@bresreports X at 11:41)

4. I do not know of a confirmed deal with Dems to make McHenry Speaker. There could be one lurking somewhere that has not been made public.

5. We must ensure NO deal with Dems is made for Speaker. Please keep calling.

6. If this goes to the floor and fails, the GOP Conference needs to go back to the conference and work again.

Tuesday Evening Update, October 17, 2023

Jim Jordan Came up Short on the First Vote.
The Second vote will be Tomorrow morning(10/18/23)

Three Republican "RED TEAM" US Reps. from Texas are embarrassing Texas and blocking Jim Jordan for Speaker. Jim is endorsed by known conservatives, Trump, and even Kevin McCarthy. If these three Republicans don't stop their shenanigans, we could end up with a radical Democrat as the next House Speaker over a Republican Majority. Are you kidding me???
Call them now. Melt the phones. Tag them on social media.
US Rep. Jake Ellzey (CD 6) 202-225-2002
US Rep. Kay Granger (CD 12) 202-225-5071
US Rep. Tony Gonzales (CD 23) 202-225-4511

Check here for the complete list of the R Congressemen you need to call before the vote restarts Wednesday morning!

Please keep calling them!!!

IMPORTANT NOTE :
To have reached the point where Jim Jordan, Founder of the Freedom Caucus and MAGA Trump supporter, got almost as many votes for House Speaker in the first round as McCarthy did in January (200 - 203) is pretty amazing in itself.
Five years ago Jim Jordan could not have gotten 50 votes for Speaker! That shows you how far we, the grassroots, have come - and we are nowhere near done!
The next vote will be much closer to 217, but I don’t believe ir will be enough to win yet - probably something like 213.
All the people who voted for McCarthy and Scalise will probably come over.
Then the hard no’s will be clearly identified and the deal making should begin just like it did with McCarthy in January. That is how the process works like it or not. The difference now is that Jim Jordan will keep his word when McCarthy did not!

We are going to win this! We have to!
We just need to keep working for what we want, need and deserve! Keep letting them know what We the People want them to do! Elect Jim Jordan Speaker of the US House so we can Make America Great Again!

Blessings in Liberty!

ACTION ALERT #3

TEXAS - SPECIAL SESSION #3

Texas Senate has moved swiftly to pass Legislation corresponding to the Issues listed by Governor Abbott.

They have already passed many out of Committee and even given them a floor vote.

Texas House, has bee lagging behind, but should get to work this Monday October 16 and hopefully catch up quickly:

Here is the very latest update regarding what is going on in the House, as sent by JoAnn Fleming, Grassroots America We The People:

Here is what I know:

The House is in complete disarray.

The Speaker will likely refuse to refer to committee any bills filed by State Reps. who voted against the illegal House process to impeach AG Paxton. For example, that means no border security bills by Schaefer and no “banning vaxx mandate” bills by Brian Harrison.

The Speaker is more interested in punishing State Reps. who won’t bow to him than getting anything done for the people of Texas.

Unless Governor Abbott gets in the game and INSISTS on strong, enforceable bills, Dade Phelan will be happy to pass “show” bills in an attempt to wash some of the egg off the faces of the incumbent impeachment lemmings.

I am told by Capitol sources that instead of asking legislators to file the strongest bills (germane to the Governor’s Special Session #3 Call) that had already gone through committee hearings during the regular session, resulting in significant agreement in the House and the Senate, the Governor’s Office is pushing new bills (starting from scratch – which makes NO sense). Some of these bills are very weak on enforcement, which means they are “show” bills.

Below are the three Senate bills the Speaker decided late Friday to refer to Chairman Todd Hunter’s State Affairs Committee for a 10 AM hearing today (Mon. 10/16).

I urge you to use the LAST link below to post your comments regarding 1) what you want to see in bills increasing enforceable criminal penalties to punish those selling or buying human beings
(SB 4); 2) your priorities in prohibiting private employers from mandating COVID-19 vaccines (the bill should not be limited to COVID-19 because the feds will only call it something else) (SB 7); and 3) your desire for the legislature to FINALLY create a strong, enforceable criminal offense for any foreign national who enters the state of Texas illegally (SB 11)Why in the name of Sam Hill have they not made illegal entry into Texas a criminal offense before now?

The second link below will allegedly take you to a live broadcast of the committee hearing.

God save the Republic,

JoAnn
